Rinsing off face masks is officially not necessary. Thanks to sheet masks and trendy new magnetic masks, you can apply and remove them without walking over to a sink. We all know how sheet masks masks work. (Even our moms send us mask selfies aka maskies.) However, magnetic masks are like mythical creatures only spotted on Instagram. Last year, they blew up our Instagram feed, and now, we finally found out what the hype is about.
In the latest video in our new series about experimenting with crazy beauty products, you can watch an Allure editor try out the Dr. Brandt magnetic mask. First, you spread a thin layer on your face like an old-school mud mask. (It looks like one, too.) But as mentioned, you don’t have to wash it off with water. Instead, you use a magnet, which comes with the mask, to remove it. After leaving the mask on for five to ten minutes, you wrap a tissue around the magnet before moving it around your face. With each swipe, the mask magically clings to the magnet. It’s just as satisfying to do as it is to watch. Once the mask is completely removed, you’re left with deep cleaned, bright skin and no annoying mask residue. The magic trick is thanks to the addition of iron to the anti-aging formula. In its powdered form, it makes the mask magnetic and helps draw out all the nasty stuff in your skin as you remove it.
The Dr. Brandt magnetic mask is available now for $75 on drbrandtskincare.com. If that price tag makes you clench you teach, don’t worry — a more affordable option is on its way. E.L.F. is launching a magnetic mask set of it’s own for just $24 in June.
